Be Still

Updated: Mar 30, 2020

To relax and rest requires trusting that God is in control and at work, even when we don’t see it.We must remember that in life most things are accomplished through a process.

“Be still, and know that I am God…” - Psalm 46.10

Often when we feel like God is too slow in answering our prayers we can become impatient. Impatience leads to hasty decisions where we attempt to do for God what it seems God is not doing. Maybe it’s a family member we’ve been praying for, maybe it’s a situation at our job, maybe it’s the single man or woman’s prayer for a Godly spouse to marry, the list could go on…, but often in these situations we grow weary and impatient, which can give birth to unbelief and doubt, followed by fear and anxiety. To all of this God says “Be still, and know that I am God”. Saints of God we must rest in the fact that our God is in control and at work in ways that we can’t comprehend. The fact that He hears our cries and our prayers is forever settled in His Holy Word. We must learn to be still. It is always the fact that God is working in ways that we can’t see. The Church was purchased with the precious blood of God’s own Son. We can rest assured that He who died for us isn’t going to leave His precious bride unattended! Oh how He loves us! When it seems as if nothing is happening in response to our prayers we can rest assured that we just can’t see it, but God is at work. We must learn to be patient and let God do what God does best. We must remember that He does “all things well” (Mark 7:37). Being still, inwardly and outwardly, requires the ability to relax and rest. To relax and rest requires trusting that God is in control and at work, even when we don’t see it. We must remember that in life most things are accomplished through a process. Each of us came to the Lord through a process of His working in our hearts through various people and circumstances. To an on-looking world in may have seemed as if nothing was changing in our lives until that exact moment when we fully surrendered to God and found true salvation; but the truth is that God was at work long before the moment it became visible. The same is true of nearly everything that we pray about and those whom we pray for. Be still child of God and know that God is God. Know that God is working regardless of your ability to identify how He’s working. He is at work. He is always at work. Trust Him. Believe Him. Rest in Him. Wait on Him. Be still and know that He is God.
