You are the City on a Hill - Shine the Light.
Updated: Mar 30, 2020
While it is true we can disobey God and thus shine the wrong light, it is not true that God’s children can cease to shine. We are either shining well for God, or we are shining poorly for Him, but none the less we are being watched and that will never change.

“A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.” – Matthew 5:14
Far too many Christians mistakenly believe that this verse is a command we can choose to obey, or choose to disobey. While it is true we can disobey God and thus shine the wrong light, it is not true that God’s children can cease to shine. We are either shining well for God, or we are shining poorly for Him, but none the less we are being watched and that will never change. God has placed us on a hill that is seen from all directions, at all times, night and day. We are the light of the world. The light of your life shines constantly as you come in contact with your coworkers, friends, spouse, children, neighbors, and to all that you come in contact with each and every day. Your light is shining, but is it shining well, or is it shining poorly. It is God’s divine design that His children bare His image for this world to see. We cannot escape that fact, we must embrace it. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. These are facts; not commands. The command comes afterwards with the obvious admonition to represent Him well. But understand, you are representing Him – either well, or poorly. What do the people in your world see when they look at the city of your life? Shine brightly brothers and sisters. Burn with a pure love, and a pure light, that will point people to the Lord Jesus Christ. Our Father has set you on a hill that cannot be hidden.
