Encouragement brings joy to the heart. This is true of all forms of encouragement; whether it be a non-verbal cheerful look (literally: “bright eyes”) or verbal “good news.” God’s Word tells us that encouragement improves emotional and physical health. Encouragement “rejoices the heart” and “refreshes the bones.” How awesome is that! The simple point here is that we all need to be encouraged; and we all need to be encouragers.
First, start your day with God in the place of prayer and in the Word. Your time with God will prepare you to live the day with a glad heart and “bright eyes.” Then go out and shine your light. Be the source of encouragement that changes someone’s day. Set your heart today to find someone to encourage. Look for that person who needs lifted up. Search, and don’t stop until you find them. Be determined that you will put a smile on someone’s face today. Be determined to bring rejoicing to someone’s heart who needs it. Sow into someone else’s life by being intentional about building them up. Bring them good news. Give them a word of encouragement. Go and let the light of the Lord be the light of your eyes.
Finally, if you have someone in your life that brings good news to you, someone whose “glad heart” makes you smile when they come around, let them know how much you appreciate them in your life. Let them know how much their encouragement has been a source of strength for you. Often these encouraging people are the last to be encouraged by others. We look at them and think they are so full of joy already that they don’t need encouraged. Trust me when I tell you that everyone needs encouraged. Encouragement causes the heart to rejoice; and nobody should ever have to live life with out that.
Be encouraged today brothers and sisters Our God reigns! Our God loves! Our God lives! Be encouraged. Be an encourager.
