Unity in the Church that Christ Shed His Blood For.
Updated: Mar 30, 2020
We need to love each other in real, tangible, visible ways that the world can clearly see. It is by our love for one another that Jesus said the world would know we are his disciples.
“…that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel.” – Philippians 1:27
This is the heart of Christ for His body. One spirit. One mind. Striving together for the sake of the gospel. Understand that this never meant that the church was supposed to agree on every single issue. What it did mean was that regardless of the small differences we as believers might have, there is a greater and far superior purpose and truth that we are called to – the gospel of Jesus Christ. Paul has challenged the Philippians with a challenge that we Americans need so desperately to hear. Stand fast, together, in unity, for the faith of the gospel. We need to love each other in real, tangible, visible ways that the world can clearly see. It is by our love for one another that Jesus said the world would know we are his disciples. God help us to seriously and sincerely love one another. While sinners are dying and filling hell by heartbreaking numbers we Christians are arguing about the five points of Calvin’s “tulip” verses the Armenian view of man’s free will. While homes are breaking apart and children are growing up fatherless we Christians are arguing with each other over how rich and prosperous our Father wants us to be. While children starve and orphanages fill up worldwide we Christians are divided because one group thinks “order” means silence while another group thinks worship should take hours. I could go on… At the present moment this country knows what the church is against but they have no idea what we’re for. May God help us to repent of this devilish mindset that has divided the American church. May we come together in unity and simply be willing to work together to take the gospel to a lost and dying world. This is the real reason that people get so wrapped up in secondary issues. They’re not exhausting their lives in the work of spreading the gospel so in an attempt to hide their true lack of spiritualism they talk for hours about secondary ‘spiritual matters’ that really come to nothing but meaningless talk. All the while there is a world of hurting people who need The Healer. They wait on us. There is a world of lost sinners who need The Savior. They wait on us. There is a world of hungry children who need a meal in The Name of Jesus. They wait on us. There is a world of people bound by the devil who need The Deliver. They wait on us. They wait on us to “stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel.” The time is now. We must strive together for the sake of the gospel. May this spirit rise up in the hearts of God’s children at this moment in the history of His church. I’m willing to lead the way. Are you willing to join me?
